Modern Hillside

The intention of this garden was to create usable space from a steep sloped, unusable backyard. Normally, this yard would be a lost space, with no real value to the homeowner. But our clients loved their home and wanted to be able to enjoy being outside as well. So we designed the terraced space and strengthened it to incorporate several sitting areas.  On the first level, as you walk out of the house, we created an outdoor sitting area with benches and a fire pit. The next level up, we prepared for and installed a hot tub; the third level boasts a chicken coop, and the final level offers a viewing deck over the rooftops of the neighborhood. Then we introduced low maintenance, drought tolerant plants on the hillside, and an edible garden with raised vegetable beds and citrus trees on the lower level.
