Description
The intention of this garden was to provide outdoor living for our clients in an environment that is very close to the ocean, which can become a harsh habitat with regular wind and salt spray. Our clients like to host large family events and needed ample seating, so we also included heating into the design. Other areas included a sitting area and a plot for the hot tub. We needed to choose plant material that would adapt well to the coastal environment, yet have enough diversity and offer visible seasonal changes throughout the garden. We incorporated natural and native decorative elements with boulders, rocks, and driftwood from the local beach. We completed the garden with diverse food and nectar plants that attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies so that the space is always teeming with life.
